Survival guide Lesson 2

How to make a fire:
Put these instructions in the correct order

a)Use some dry plant material, like the fibres from an old coconut husk, as tinder to make a fire.
b)Next, blow on it gently until flames appear.
c)Then, push the ‘plough’ stick back and forth along the ‘hearth’ stick, gradually getting faster and
turning the plough stick over occasionally.
d)This will make a groove in the plough stick, creating sawdust.
e)The heat from the friction will start the sawdust smouldering.

f)Firstly, cut two sticks, a thin ‘plough’ stick and a ‘hearth’ stick.
